CORPORATE MEMBERS:
Every candidate for election or transfer to the class of Corporate Member shall be a person, who in the opinion of the Council, has by his achievements acquired an established reputation and whose admission as a Corporate Member will be in the interest of the Association.
In addition he shall either:
(a) (i) hold a degree, diploma or an equivalent award in Professional Architecture (Bachelor of Architecture), from a University or place of learning at which the syllabus for the particular field is approved by the Board; and (ii) have at least three years practical experience after graduation of a nature acceptable to the Council, under the guidance and supervision of a Corporate Member who is prepared to vouch for the experience gained.
Only Corporate Members may sign and stamp construction documents for submission to the Central and Local Building Authorities for building permit.
Note that in order to apply for a buildings permits, construction documents along with a building permit application, and application fee must be submitted to the Central or Local Building Authority. The construction drawings of all one storey buildings over 1,000 ft.sq. must bear the stamp of a Registered Architect or Registered Engineer. The construction drawings of building over 3,000 ft.sq. and buildings with more than one storey, must bear the stamps of both a Registered Architect and Registered Engineer.
AFFILIATE MEMBERS:
Every candidate for election to the class of Affiliate Member shall be a person whose admission will, in the opinion of the Council, be in the interest of the Association and who has attained a position in his special pursuit qualifying him to cooperate with other members in the advancement of professional knowledge and practice.
In addition, he shall either:
(a) hold a degree, diploma, or equivalent award in Professional Architecture, or allied Professions, and shall have a desire to be actively associated with the Association; or (b) if he does not possess the academic qualification, he shall be more than thirty years of age, and shall have held a position of responsibility related to the profession represented for a period of not less than ten years.
RIGHTS & PRIVILEGES
6. The rights and privileges of every member of any class shall not be transferable or transmissible by his own act or by operation of law.
7. No Honorary Member, Affiliate Member, or Student Member of the Association shall, by reason of being member of the Association, be entitled to any rights or privileges other than those which are attached to the specific class of member of the Association to which he belongs, and wherever the term "Corporate Member" is used it shall be taken to exclude Honorary Member, Affiliate Member or Student Member.
